While the majority of Americans procrastinate in filing their taxes, 70 percent of Millennials purchase online tax preparation software before March, according to data from Slice Intelligence. This group constitutes the vast majority of people who start working on their taxes early. Millennials make up nearly one-third of people who  bought TurboTax or H&R Block online tax software before March, compared to only 15 percent of 45-55 year-olds, the people more likely to be their parents.

Forty-seven percent of TurboTax and H&R Block tax software buyers make their purchase in the months of January and February. But the biggest week of sales in 2015 was the week of April 12, when more than one-fifth of online tax filers headed online--most of whom did so on Tax Day.
